15 miles in 1 hr. 42 minutes even. 6:48 average. 6 of the 15 were in to the wind and brought my average up. I felt pretty comfortable for most of it, and as ussual the 3 miles past my previous longest run were achy to say the least but my pace stayed just fine. I actually picked it up a little. splits were 7:02, 6:41, 6:43, 6:36, 6:55, 6:57, 6:41, 6:44, 6:39, 6:53, 6:56, 6:43, 6:35, 6:29, 6:46. All of my miles in to the wind were over 6:50 except for the last mile. All of my miles with the wind were under 6:45. Thinking about running any further made me think that running a marathon would be an impossiblity, or running one fast is, soooo I'm looking forward to doing more of these long runs so I get to the point that I don't mentally feel that way. I'm thinking sticking to the 12-16 mile range for a couple of months and then bumping up to 18-20 miles will gear me up to what I want to do. Sooner than that I'm going to start doing some tempo runs and intervals. I won't start that until I get my book by Jack Daniels. I'm in no hurry and I would like to have a lot of guidance from some experts. The nice thing about training long (I hope) is that I'll be able to compete @ any type of distance when I enter the road races.
Total for the week is 54.0 miles. Another new and unplanned high in mileage. I'd be right where I was last week for mileage, but I had an unplanned night run with Ryan on Wednesday. I will most likely drop my mileage next week down a bit, but then again I've been saying that a lot lately.
The whole time I've been typing I've been stopping to explain the ins and outs of how a glue guns works to Owen. He found one in the junk drawer and now, due to many questions asked of me, has a pretty good understanding of how it works and what parts of the gun get really hot and so on. He's now been looking for broken things to fix and is wanting me to do some glueing for him. He's been talking non-stop to me the whole time I've been typing. So, I'll stop typing and start glueing.
