Sebby update # 3.

Personally I'm feeling much better about how things are going. We did another CT scan this morning and the doctor was encouraged by his first look at the pictures. He said initially everything is looking like it is heading in the right direction but would take a closer look to make sure. I asked him if based on what he saw whether he thought that the spleen would need to be removed. At this point the spleen is in bad shape but should be able to heal on it's own and there should be no reason for removal. There's now sign of bleeding or anything like that. He doesn't have any bad news for us thus far... all good stuff. (We were really, really, nervous last night as his heart-rate had jumped about 20-30 beats at resting which is sometimes a condition of internal bleeding.)

The most positive thing for us has been Sebby's interaction. We had to get him to drink something that would make the CT scan clearer. This looked impossible at first as when we tried, Seb wouldn't budge and kept his mouth closed tight. Cherity started to playfully tease Sebby with the glass of lemondade and he actually started smiling and even laughed a little. That was the first smile I'd seen out of him since he'd bench pressed that Honda. Directly after this we got a book out and started reading a page to him and told him if he would take a sip of the drink we would turn the page and read more. Sebby acquiesced because he really liked the book and started actually jabbering away about what he was seeing in the book. He was a little drugged up but we had never gotten such a positive response out of him with or without drugs before. Very good stuff. The book was about ocean creatures and had those inserted googly eyes that bounce around and stay on the current page even when you turn the page. I'm probably not explaining it well. Sebby noticed a clown fish on one of the pages and immediately called it Nemo so we got the "Finidnig Nemo" video out of the library and watched that with him. He asked me to lay down with him in the bed and we fell asleep together watching the video. I had just woke up and came up here to check email and stuff and this is where I'm at right now.

Thanks again for all your prayers and thoughts. It's amazing all the directions the prayers have been coming from. Almost everyone we've ever known is praying for little Sebby which is great.

Love from the Pick family.

We are all so happy that Seb is recovering so well. Amazing how resilient children are! I remember when Zac had to have a CT scan and had to drink that nasty stuff too. The nurse said that children usually take it better than most adults. Sebby sure is a tough little trooper!
Give him lots of (gentle)hugs and kisses from us. Our prayers are with you. All our love & God Bless, Desha

Yick - that CT scan drink - I can relate to his hesitation.... i can vouch for adults being worse at taking them versus kids :)

Relieved to hear Sebby continues to improve....

LOVE YOU!

We like the fact that you are feeling much better about things, cause that makes us feel much better too. Wow. What a weekend.

We continue to keep you in our prayers. We so look forward to seeing you at Thanksgiving if Sebastian feels like traveling and you feel like traveling with Sebastian. Plus, you're probably thinking one day at a time at this point during the recovery process, huh.

Again, we love you so much.

Love,

Jon, Lee, and Girls
