I meant to go to church but ended up at a rock concert.

..well, actually it was both. Kyle, one of the few people I've kept in touch with since high school, lives in Denver. Actually, there are only two people that I've kept in touch with since high school. Mike and Kyle. Both of them went to the same baptist church that I grew up in. We refered to our group as the church-boys just because that explained how we were all connected. Our church was a stereotypical baptist fundamentalist church. Hymnals, a piano, and an organ and an angry man pounding on a pulpit. (by the way, that angry man once broke his hand on his pulpit once... can you believe that?!) But, that was a long time ago and it shaped who I am today to some degree be it good or bad... and some of the memories of the church do instill a bit of nostalgia which I suppose wouldn't be understood unless you were raised in it.

.....and as far to the extreme as Calvary Baptist was, this probably went the other direction. I thought that the E-free church I went to in Winona was contemporary but that wasn't even close. The band was a lot like U2. The volume was so high that I'm surprised my ears aren't ringing right now. They were actually really good... and the pastor who spoke was very engaging as well... All in all it was very entertaining. Probably the most awkward thing.... I felt old and wee bit out of place with all the 20-somethings (not that they were all that age bracket... but mostly). I'm willing to work through that. One of the strangest things was meeting one of kyle's old roommates/tennants who was at one time on the MTV reality show 'the real world'... never saw him on the show but apparently that's the story. Kyle had a quasi-date so I didn't get a chance to talk to him about what the pastor had to say, so that was a bit of a bummer.

In other news... I need to get a vehicle. The company I work for won't continue paying for rental vehicles forever so I've got to figure that out. Also I have to figure where to purchase it. I don't have a permanent Colorado residence so I don't know how I would regiser a vehicle here so we'll most likely have to get it registered in Minnesota and then do it all over again in Colorado. Double whammy. I'd prefer to get something out here just so I don't have to move it. There are lot of things to figure out... like how to keep myself and Cherity sane while we're in limbo. It's all quite an experience.

Hey! I think the Badgers are on! Bye!

Passionate. I prefer to describe that Baptist pastor as passionate about his topic.

That broken hand probably cured him of pulpit pounding - used for emphasis. It would sure cure me!...if I was so inclined...to emphasize something like that...which I'm not. :-)
Hmmm
