Our dog died. We had a miscarriage. Sebby got run over by a hybrid. All in the same year! Gotta kinda chuckle at how bad or funny that sounds. Life definitely gets interesting after you get married and start a family. My life was pretty boring before I got married.... "got married".. why is it "got married"...? as if it's something that happened to you? Like "I got the chicken pox". Ahem... My life was boring before "I married". Boring, in that, it was all about me. My college experience, me the athlete, me this, me that. Definitely a startling wake up call when I got married and then even more so when we had kids. Identities change, get redefined, and we try to keep our heads about us without letting our selfishness get the best of us. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting ahead.... more times I feel like I'm falling waaay behind.

But today I'm feeling pretty good. Molly's been gone for just over a week now and I'm embarrassed to say we've already moved on and NOT gotten "A" puppy... but rather two. It was decided, I must say, by the both of us to take the last two of a litter so as to not separate them. And I wouldn't say we've moved on from Molly. We will always miss the short 14 months we had with her, and I find myself already comparing the two pups demeanor to Molly's. (Totally different by the way.)

So yeah....... two ... You know, they say like 86% of all purchases are based on emotion so I guess I'm/we're in the majority.... so I don't feel so bad about that but I would be lying if I said we weren't near panic attack on the drive home trying to deal with the idea of what we had done. (I believe my Marketing professor would call that a wee bit 'o' cognitive dissonance). So far it's been incredibly great. The other two boys (Dougal and Duncan) are very easy-going and somewhat of a couple of cry babies which is pretty hilarious to watch. They will sit at the bottom or top of the steps when I'm trying to get them to follow me and will stick their noses over the first step thinking about following for about 3 seconds and then they both plop there butts down and start crying. I then pick them up and carry them the distance. They have absolutely no interest in fetch which is weird for me because Molly was addicted to chasing tennis balls as if they we're sugar coated with Opium. I'm assuming the whole fetch thing is something they develop after ten weeks. Time will tell if I'm delusional or not.

My Mom and Dad were here Friday night and Saturday so my Dad is proud to say that he was the first outside of the family to see the puppies. It was a nice weekend of sight seeing and dog-walking.
Owen and Sebastian want to take a walk. The pups aren't interested.
This is Dougal..... and this is Duncan.

Elijah wanted to comment that he misses Molly very much and he is still very sad. All of Platteville misses Molly all of the time. He can't wait to meet the new puppies Duncan and Dougal. He also misses Owen and Sebby very much.

Glad to see you guys know how crazy you are. They are cute as heck though. My Bert (our dog growing up) was a yellow. He was a stupid, stupid, dog, and the best friend you could ever want.

I was at Murrie's when I read this...(we both did)...and we laughed all the way through it.. It was fun reading. Love the picture with the leashes on the puppies who would rather not walk. They're a riot...very low key riot. :-)

I didn't exactly laugh at the first 3 sentences...but I read fast so got to the intent of the piece. It is good to be able to laugh after stuff like that.

Awww, the new puppies are adorable. You're going to have your hands full; but they'll really enjoy having one another to keep them company. Congrats again on the new puppies. We know they'll bring you lots of joy and excitement!
