Mouse disposal, muddy boots, and a night out.

We've caught three mice, using glue traps, in our 122 year old house this weekend and while I was about to start typing, another mouse (oop. Just saw it again) ran within two feet of my feet. We purchased some more glue traps again yesterday. I think we need to trade Molly in for a cat.

Actually, one of the three mice we caught was when I was at work and Cherity called me to see if I could do something about it which I couldn't (no way to get home quickly). I called Cherity back and asked her how it went. The mouse that was caught got it's tail stuck in the glue trap and the got one of it's legs stuck in some threading from some carpeting. Owen calmly got a scissors and cut the thread and then picked up the glue trap; threw it in a bag; and then headed for the back door and then told Cherity that maybe she should stay inside because she might not want to see this. THIS, being Owen's disposal of the mouse.

The weekend in general went pretty well. Been thinking about fishing lately as the river has no ice and I actually saw someone shore-fishing yesterday when the boys and I went down to the river. I tried to actually keep my distance from the river because I knew if we got down there Molly would jump in and it's a little cold even for a dog to be swimming. We ended up going there anyway and Molly ended up jumping in the water to get a tennis ball and a stick that Sebby threw in the water.

We also got the boys some new boots. It's nice to have something water proof for the boys but they don't help if you get them stuck in the mud. Sebby, Owen, Molly, and the weather have been making a mess out of the backyard. Seb got stuck so he stepped out of his boots and in to the freezing mud and of course ended up crying because of it. Cherity told me about it and I retrieved the new boots and the one sock that was still stuck in his left boot while Cherity put Seb in the bath tub.

Our first night away from the boys with a babysitter went well for the most part. Sebby was cranky cause we left but fell asleep @ 7:30 and slept the rest of the night, but Cherity's friend who was watching the boys also has a son Owen's age and they were both STILL awake @ 11:30 when we got home. Not a big deal. I just couldn't believe he managed to stay awake.

Quick comment here - have you ever tried using those electronic rodent repellants? You just plug them in an outlet in the house, (near where you think the point of entry is), and it emits a high pitch noise that only rodents are able to hear, thus getting them to leave. We used it in Sun Prairie and had success with it. Just thought I'd share. Good luck.

Glad you had a date out together! :) Still looking forward to that one here.

Remember the bats in our house? I remember AT LEAST 3 cases where I was in the same room when it decided to make an appearance in the Pick house.

I frequently slept with covers over my head.... maybe Jack can step up if that happens here in Ohio...

:)

Your going to have to buy little Jack a tennis racket.

Jen, I wonder if Molly would be able to hear the high pitch noise?

I love the way Owen was protecting his Mom and being the little man of the house in your absence.

Gypsy was fine...didn't bother her a bit actually. Read the package though to be sure, in case some are different. If I'm remembering correctly it said something about household pets.

I guess I need to hire a little boy to be my son while Jon is on a trip.
They sound pretty handy. :) Being the mommy protector and all. Especially in the case of mouse disposal.

By the way Aaron, so glad you had a date. Woohoo. As Martha S.says, "it's a good thing". Just realizing you are a couple, as well as parents.
