The folks at Blogger must have been having a lot of fun yesterday. A lot of blogs were inaccessible and gave out some bjv... error message. I checked the blogger help groups where you can post questions and it was a pretty wide-spread issue. They fixed that but then realized that error message was just one problem and not being able to post comments was an entirely different problem. It looks like the commenting functions is working now though. yippee.
Heading down to Platteville again this week. We are going to Pat Lahey's funeral. The wake is Friday night and the funeral is Saturday.
Owen was pretty sick last night and when I got home from work he wasn't bouncing around like a rabid furball like he ussually does. I said "Hey Owen! how ya doing". He just nodded to me with a straight face from the couch without moving a muscle because he was feeling that sick. Cherity did a good job of doctoring him. He perked up when our new computer showed up. I just ordered a Dell refub (great deals on computers if you don't want to pay reg. retail) and got it last night. Owen was interested because he can watch movies on the new computer and he's fully expecting to get the old PC for his office. I made sure he understood there wasn't a monitor for it (because we're re-using it) but he didn't seem to mind. I pulled off the cover to show himthe guts and tell him what some of the stuff did. He was fascinated as I new he would be. His favorite part was the fans, which he pointed out as soon as he saw them. I was actually suprised because the UPS guy showed up well after dark. Like 6:30. When I asked him about it he said he has to go until he's got everything delivered which he said would probably be like 8:00. I didn't tell him I could've waited a day because I knew it wouldn't have helped anything. I'm typing on the new PC right now but I'm probably going to install Linux along with Windows XP for a dual boot environment. Just gotta figure out which flavor of Linux I wanna use. (Did I mention Linux is free?) It has a steep learning curve for the novice though.

Hope Owen is feeling better today. I love it that he is interested in the workings of stuff like computers. Isn't an inquisitive mind fun! And we can help them feed it by teaching the simple knowledge God has given us. Well, most of the time, ha, it can wear us out too. But that's okay. It's probably worth the price. :)
Bethany woke up with a 101 fever. That hasn't happened in ages. She was supposed to have a couple girlfriends over tonight, so she was pretty disappointed when we said we'll have to reschedule. Oh well. Such is life.
Love you brother,
Lee
Our prayers are with the Lahey family and you and Cherity as you travel to Platteville this weekend.
You should definitely install the Ubuntu version of Linux. It comes preloaded with lots of apps and the installer to partition the drive for you. Good luck. http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
Well I tried installing it and I'm stuck on a gray ubuntu logo. With the system going no where.
I'm not sure. When I installed it, I downloaded the .ico file and burned the image to a CD. The CD is bootable on its own and you don't have to install Unbuntu because you try it from the bootable disc.
I think it had something to do with the 6.10 version for the athlon duo core. I went and did the 6.06 version and that worked well but I wasn't sure the order I needed to set the partitions and ended up screwing it up and am almost done reloading windows before I try again.
Since I only am allowed 4 partitions I was going to try and do the following:
part. 1 - NTFS 45 Gig
part. 2 - extended to
a. ubuntu ext3 /root 45G
b. Swap 2G
part. 3 Share Fat32 70g
HD total size 160g. We'll see. Hopefully I won't screw it up again.
I used the both ways. 6.06 seems to work the way it's supposed to.
I hope it all works out. I always feel bad about giving people computer advice, because I feel bad when something doesn't work out, but I think the Ubuntu stuff is good.
Ubuntu installed! Looks like installing extensions and other software is done from the terminal command prompt. That should be interesting. I got flash player installed but I can see that it will take some learning since each install appears to work a little different.
