The keyboard to my work computer went out this weekend. I thought it was because I spilled some coffee the day before. So I popped some keys off and cleaned it out. Nothing. I popped the back out and took this plastic velum off and cleaned it down and dried it out. I got it working! Wait! No letter "C". Who needs a letter "C" anyway!? The "K" makes the same sound and the "S" covers the rest. Unfortunately logging in to my computer requires a "C" and my registry didn't care about my substitute lettering logic. Took the board apart again. Cleaned again. Took the nubs out cleaned them off again. Nothing. Wait! It's not just "C"... It's "Z", "X", and "B" too. The "B" was the killer. There's no substitute for that one. Take the board apart, clean, put back together about 8 more times. I'm supposed to be cleaning for Owen's party! Argghh! I can't let it go. I never can! It's in my nature to get this stuff right! Get the keyboard upside down and the "C" starts working! What?! I screw it all back together and set it down and now it doesn't work! It's the stupid cord from the keyboard. It's got a short. Getting that part would not be cheaper than getting a new one. I used our other keyboard from our other PC. Whenever you hit the letter "I" on our other keyboard you also get and ei8ght too. Cool!
So anyway, all that extra time I was supposed to have to clean and do as I pleased in the house by myself was sucked up by my compulsive behavior. I went to work the next day and they gave me a new keyboard.
All in prep for Owen's party. One of the other children's impulse could not help but to start blowing Owen's candles out with him. Owen freaked because he was totally looking forward to it. That's what I meant in my previous post when I said I should've saw it coming. I know the nature of kids. The pictures don't show the whole story. There's about 10 adults and 4 other kids standing there watching Owen freak out. As anxiety-ridden as I was from that, I was laughing at the same time because it's just the way life is sometimes. Dissapointing.
