Just got back from Platteville. I had the week off.

I read my new book whenever I got a chance. Cherity got me "Blue Like Jazz" for Christmas. It was written by the same guy who wrote "Searching for God Knows What"... Donald Miller. I've already read about 115 pages.

Also got to take a few walks around Platteville. Always good for the old sentimentality streak I've got. The college is getting bigger every year. They've got a new student center. The Ullsvik Center (which was the old student center) is going to be huge, like 3 stories high. They've got three of those enormous cranes moving large rebarred concrete building blocks around to build the foundation. Quite the undertaking.

Kyle and Mike who I refer to as the church boys were in town as well which was great. I refer to them as the church guys because we both grew up in the same church (strict Baptist). None of us are affiliated with the church anymore. I guess we just grew up with the same plights or whatever you want to call it and built a bond due to that. There isn't anyone from high school except for these guys that I ever get together with really. Mike bought a beautiful home in St. Paul and Kyle is living in Denver now with his dog Bailey. Kyle's mom recently found out she has an aggressive form of breast cancer, so please pray for her. She is taking the holistic approach. Cherity went with Kyle's mom to her doctor's appointment to learn a little about that.

The boys got some more toys from Grandma and Grandpa Palmer. Owen got a whole box of PVC pipes and elbows per Cherity's recommendations. If you know Owen, this is right up his alley. I also got a cool little jar from the Palmer Parents that says "New Boat Fund" along with a couple rolls of quarters and dimes to get me started. Also Kris painted all the family members first names on two wooden oars to go along with the whole motif. Owen, Sebastian, and I are saving money to eventually get a canoe. We live so near all this water and eventually would like to take more advantage of it. Owen also got an aquarium and has some fishies in it already.

I'll post pictures eventually.... I hope.

P.S. The Kombucha is done. It's really sweet. Tastes like apple soda (smells like apple vinegar) and is as carbonated as soda too. Not bad for a fermented blob of bacteria.
